Real fitness, real people & understated luxuryVeterans serve mindful fitness inspiration; Ambanis ditch glitz for understated glamour; and culture meets religious harmony in architecture.
Hello! Welcome to the very first edition of the HT Lifestyle newsletter—your weekly dose of wellness to fashion, food and travel, and everything in between. It’s your curated corner of the internet, a thoughtful mix of what’s buzzing and what actually matters. Ever since people caught on to the idea that you can’t just sit and eat less to stay fit, rather you have to be mindful about what you eat, fix your lifestyle and work out, social media has been more noise than substance. For one, whenever I open social media for workout ideas or meal plans, I’m bombarded with edited bodies, senseless diet plans, and detox plans that aim to suck out every last drop of my soul. It makes one question what “fitness inspiration” really means in this day and age: Is it the perfectly edited bodies we scroll past every day, or is it something far more real, raw, and relatable? In case you were wondering, it is definitely the latter. Somewhere between unrealistic standards and everyday life, motivation that actually feels achievable was found in a few unexpected names. While you’ll still find an n-number of photoshopped influencers when seeking fitness motivation, why not get inspired by veterans like Helen, Vicky Kaushal’s father Sham Kaushal, and Anita Raj, who are proving that age is just a concept and that, if you are willing, no barriers can stop you. These celebrities are strength-training, building muscle, achieving stability in their 60s, 70s, and 80s—when muscle loss is at its most severe—and even inspiring many on social media to stop procrastinating on their best version. Happy training! The AmbanisIndia’s richest family is glamour personified. Yet, there can be an understated air about it. This week, the family celebrated youngest scion Anant Ambani’s 31st birthday, and while glitz and glamour are their go-to aesthetic for a party, Isha Ambani and Radhika Merchant made headlines for their simple looks. I, for one, enjoyed their breezy kurta sets, which married the “less is more” vibe with contemporary fabrics. But Mama Ambani’s understated luxury in a rich crimson saree with a delicate yet striking gold border dazzled as always. If you have followed her exquisite jewellery, you would know she doesn’t play when it comes to her necklaces. And for her youngest’s birthday, Nita Ambani styled the ensemble with emerald-encrusted oversized floral-motif earrings and a traditional rani haar. Can oral sex get you pregnant?A bizarre medical case of a 15-year-old girl getting “pregnant after oral sex” went viral on social media, and as all things trending, a lot of misinformation spread. Medical experts were quick to point out that it was a series of astronomical coincidences that led to the girl’s pregnancy and do not apply to the general public. Read the full story here. BEST HEALTH TIPS OF THE WEEKRECIPES TO LIVEN UP YOUR KITCHENWhere culture meets religious harmonyEvery week, we show you beautiful homes, palaces, and resorts. However, in a world divided by wars and ethnicities, architectural beauty stands out. We are talking about Kolkata’s synagogues—a testament of a Baghdadi Jewish past cared for by Muslims today. Featuring intricate designs, they are a fusion of West Asian liturgy, Victorian colonial grandeur, and local Indian craftsmanship. No multi-storey villa or multi-million-dollar paradise compares to the beauty of this religious harmony. Until next time!
