Heatwave, El Niño and RiRi: Triple fireWhile most of India reeled under a heatwave, Rihanna brought a different kind of heat to Mumbai. Her fashion wowed, even as her late arrival stirred buzz.
Being a Delhiite, I find it hard to be either a winter or a summer person. I mean, how does one choose between hot Loo and toxic smog? I’d rather have me some B’lore in the winters and Himachal in the summers. But the prevailing heatwave (it’s still April, btw) seems to have undone even that one redeeming quality about Bangalore — it’s famed weather (not Rameshwaram Cafe). Welcome to the Summer of 2026, where India is home to 19 of the 20 hottest cities in the world. Blame El Niño. Since we can’t really change the weather, one thing we can do is take precautionary measures and maybe don’t blast the air conditioners in your homes for the entire day. Climate change is not a hoax, guys. We have only one Earth. Invest in naturally cooling resources, like khus curtains. Coming to the precautions: you should know at least these two things: how to stay safe and who is most at risk during an extreme heatwave. Those who are most at risk are elderly individuals, infants and young children, people with chronic conditions, and pregnant women. So, if you have someone at home who falls in this category, take extra care of them. Additionally, if you see workers near your home in the afternoon, be kind, offer them cold water or even ORS to replenish the electrolytes. A little kindness goes a long way. Also, don’t forget to take care of yourself. Often, before you realise that you have heat stroke and dehydration symptoms, it is already too late. Restrict outdoor activity, eat small and frequent meals, drink water regularly, and maintain electrolyte balance. But, the heatwave is not all that was hot this week! RiRi arrives in IndiaRihanna arrived in India to launch her beauty brand, Fenty Beauty, and she even met with the Ambanis at their home, Antilia. The star-studded event had Ambanis, Bollywood celebrities, and even influencers in attendance. Her outfit—more importantly, her jewellery—became the talk of the town! Paired with two chic looks—a monochrome olive-green dress from Miguel Castro Freitas’ Fall 2026 collection for Mugler and a sleek black Alaïa dress—she wore opulent traditional jewels from Sabyasachi, Birdhichand, and Manish Malhotra. Rihanna has always been the IT girl of fashion! And while I enjoyed Rihanna’s choice of mixing traditional Indian jewels with international clothing, not everyone was focused on her clothes. Some were pissed because the Umbrella singer arrived five hours late to her own event. A beauty influencer, Yashita Damani, dropped the tea on Instagram. She revealed that everyone who was invited to the Fenty launch event arrived around 8 pm, but had to stay till 3 am the next day because Rihanna arrived late and then stayed for only a few minutes. 💪🏼 TOP HEALTH TIPS OF THE WEEK◾️ Why you should avoid drinking sugarcane juice in summer ◾️ Hidden risks of taking GLP-1 drug revealed by a study ◾️ How to hit 150g of protein daily ◾️ Golden rules to prevent heat exhaustion 🥘 RECIPES TO LIVEN UP YOUR KITCHEN◾️ Summer special drinks recipes made with amla, ragi, and rice An opulent abodeEvery week, we bring you the most beautiful homes from every corner of the world. This week, Dr. Jai Madaan’s Mumbai home showed us what immense luxury looks like. Nestled in the Malabar Hills, the residence is no less than a luxurious villa, where every corner narrates a story. Drawing inspiration from astrology and Indian architectural style, the entire house is adorned with artistic pieces, silverware, and metalware. One of the most extraordinary features of the home is the beautiful 125-year-old Burmese ceiling in the living room. Lined with artistic decor pieces, it looks no less than a royal courtroom and opens into a massive sea-facing window. The dining area is another beautiful spot in the house, featuring a massive dining table and a mirrored ceiling that reflects the dining table. While you marvel at the home, I take your leave. Until next time!
